Education: The backbone of a nation

“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.”

Malcolm X

On going personal development starts with taking an active interest in our own education. A desire to know more and to learn more. Perhaps a motivation spurred on by curiosity or even pride. Either way, your journey of male self improvement and male empowerment can’t happen without spending some time reading and pursuing information that makes you question yourself and those around you.

In recent times when we look around us we keep seeing a division between our society. It can be described as the ‘left’ or the ‘right’, but really it’s just people. People that have identified their differences of opinion and set up their camp on a particular side of an issue. Through the use of social media they have garnered information that does nothing but reinforce their already formed opinion and the idea of entertaining the other other sides ideas for even a moment is sacrilege. This division between people isn’t due to anyone actually being right or wrong. It’s due to a lack of critical thinking and education.

An education is powerful. Most problems in this world can be fixed with access to a balanced education. Whether it be pulling a culture out of grinding poverty or even convincing a nation of people to pursue a more progressive culture, education has the ability to change someones opportunities and what could be referred to as fate. It achieves this through stimulating the imagination and develops an idea of what could be. To provide an insight into a life full of dreams becoming reality. Why do we continually see people from developing nations come to developed Western countries? It’s to access education and opportunity for themselves and their families in the hope of providing better opportunities for the unborn generations after them. People die trying to grasp the opportunity to better themselves. So what are you doing to better yourself? What are you prepared to sacrifice?
